We have 35 spots which are going fast. If all 35 spot have not been filled by 2/28/14 they will be made available for T48 & T435. We will be asking for payment confirmation starting next week to secure spots.

For your convenience you may pay via PayPal on Signup Genius.
This is a once in a life time opportunity for our Troop. Over 200 groups per year apply for only 20 spot. Groups are only allowed to be chosen once every 5 years and our name was drawn this week.

The Alcatraz Work Service Project/Overnight Program is truly a unique experience. Groups selected through the yearly lottery meet their Alcatraz Ranger at the dock and travel by the ferry to Alcatraz on a Friday or Saturday afternoon. Please note that you do not have to purchase separate tickets for the boat as it is already covered in the below Program costs. Once on the Island, with your belongings stowed in the Cellhouse, you will help the National Park Service by assisting in a 1-2 hour work program, such as vegetation management or Cellhouse maintenance. After the work project, groups receive a guided insiders tour from your Ranger. At night dinner will be cooked on a grill provided by the NPS. At the end of the evening, the group retires to their individual cells in D-Block. Each cell has a cot with a covered 4” foam mattress. Though you will have access to running water and flush toilets, consider Alcatraz as backcountry; there are no outlets for plugging in cell phones or computers?
