Fairfield Scout Earns 139 Merit Badges

The Golden Empire Council congratulates Skyler Parthemore, a 17-year-old Eagle Scout from Fairfield, California, who achieved the unattainable on August 7th, 2017 by earning every Boy Scout merit badge. Skyler started his journey in March of 2011. His original plan was to earn Eagle Scout and surpass his father's total of 51 merit badges. Read more

Recipients must be currently registered volunteers and be involved in providing District and Council program for our youth members.  Recipients receive their award at the Annual Council Dinner held each February.  Plans are underway to make a special video program to honor the recipients.
To provide sufficient time to make this a very special event we must receive all nominations by September 30th.  Nominations should be sent to the attention of Michelle Pisias at the Council office. The nomination form is available here.

Merit Badge Counselor Opportunity

Parents,

At last month´s Parent Committee meeting, I announced that I am pursuing bringing Boy and Girl Scouts together for training purposes. This is one of a few efforts I am putting together to see Boy and Girl Scouts connect.

I also sent an e-mail to the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters to explain my presentation to the Parent Committee. If any parent would like a further explanation of my goals and proposed actions, I will provide that information. Just send me a note.

For clarification purposes, I do not propose or support the merging of the two scouting groups. Nor do I support individual girls becoming "boy" scouts or matriculating in a Boy Scout troop. I do support cross-training and inter-group scouting events, however.

Anyways, on to the purpose of this e-mail.

As part of my effort to bring both groups of Scouts together, I will be inviting Rocklin Girl Scouts to a troop merit badge class I will teach this fall. I will meet with the Rocklin Girl Scout leaders next week to further discuss my ideas and give the invitation to their Scouts.

Would any other merit badge counselor like to include Girl Scouts in an upcoming class(es)? If yes, please let me know what merit badge class and approximately when you plan to teach the class. And I will convey that opportunity to the Girl Scout leadership.

Finally, as far as my obligation to inform you (the troop parents) and the Boy Scout organization of my goal, I have cleared what I am doing with the CEO of the Golden Empire Council, Chuck Brasfeild.

Eclipse Patch

Hello Scouts!

If anyone is interested (adults too!!)  in earning the Solar Eclipse Patch for the eclipse we have happening in a couple of weeks please see the requirements in the link below. You must read the requirements thoroughly and complete them. I will need to see your hashtag post on social media for you to fulfill that requirement so make sure you can still access it when we go over your paperwork (if you don't have a social media account I will allow you to receive credit by posting to your mom or dad's account (I will still need to see it).

I will set aside one Thursday night that I will dedicate to checking your requirements off so please don't call me asking to meet you.

Please remember if you will be viewing the solar eclipse to follow the proper safety procedures and DO NOT look at the eclipse directly without proper eye protection, this patch is not worth damaging your eyesight!

I also realize that school will be in session when this occurs so if you view it as a class or you are only able to view it online after it happens that is totally acceptable as well. Just share with me how you viewed it.

Remember!! Safety first!

Happy viewing!

Mrs. Cameron
