Eclipse - August 21st; Earn the Patch
On Monday, August 21st, all of the United States will experience an eclipse of the sun.  Those in the path of totality will experience a total eclipse.  The Golden Empire Council will experience an 86 percent eclipse at the north end of the Council, reducing to about 76 percent to the south.   For our area, the eclipse will start at 9:06am and end at 11:41am.  The last time the United States saw a total eclipse was in 1979.
The Boy Scouts of America has developed a patch for the eclipse.  To earn the patch, Scouts will view the eclipse using safe viewing practices outline in the patch requirements.  Please remember, it is not safe to look directly at the sun without proper protective glasses.  For more information click here.
