Regards: Scholarships for High School Students

Hello Discovery District,

I would like to inform all of you who are in high school of a local scholarship that the Placer County Youth Commission is offering. A total of $500 will be awarded, with five winners each receiving a $100 scholarship. The scholarship criteria are exemplified by the values that boy scouts teaches and by all of us in boy scouts, which would make all of you who are eligible strong candidates. All students attending high school in Placer County are eligible.

Here is a little more information about the scholarship itself: There are five categories within the scholarship, each with its own winner. You will only be competing against the people who apply in the category that you enter into. The five categories are Leadership, Community Service, Overcoming Adversity, Applied Talents & Knowledge, and Impact. The Impact category can only be entered into by a small group of people. The Applied Talents & Knowledge category has a fairly broad range, entries can be from starting your own business to starting a robotics club on campus, as long as it is a noteworthy accomplishment that wouldn't exactly fit into Leadership or Community Service.

The application is online, a link to it is below. It is very easy and simple to fill out, it only takes about an hour to complete. Considering the large emphasis that scouts places on leadership and community service, I firmly believe that all of you who are eligible are already strong candidates, especially eagle scouts. I strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to apply for this great honor and take up this opportunity, a link to apply is below. The deadline for applying is 11:59 PM, April 4th.

If you have any questions about the scholarship, please do not hesitate to email me at tjtatelaw@gmail.com !

Sincerely,
Tyler Tate
