First Aid Merit Badge

There will be a First Aid Merit Badge Session on April 2nd from 9am to Noon at Johnson-Springview Park Pavilion.

Scouts will need to bring their Scoutbook, a Blue Card*, Completed First Aid Worksheets, and a scout prepared home first aid kit**.   Parts of the worksheet have been completed at Troop meetings. I have attached the First Aid worksheet if any pages are missing or lost.

Scout must satisfactorily show he has current knowledge of the First Aid requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class.

Scoutbook 12th edition (Old Book) - Tenderfoot 11, 12a and 12b; Second Class 7a, 7b*** and 7c; First Class 8b, 8c and 8d
Scoutbook 13th edition (New Book) - Tenderfoot 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d***; Second Class 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d and 6e; First Class 7a, 7b, 7c and 7d

For all scouts to earn this badge they need to teach a first aid skill to another scout. So if your scout has completed most requirements there will be scouts available to teach the gaps.  If troop instructors attend then books can be signed off as well.

Once a scout has presented himself prepared for his merit badge I will start a session with him.  I will need others to monitor the scouts to ensure they stay on task.  I will council scouts for the merit badge on a first come first served basis.

Now to make this successful I need some help.
1) Troop Instructors are needed to sign off and instruct
2) Parents to make sure this all runs smoothly
3) First Aid MB counselors so more than one scout can earn his badge at a time.

* - New Scouts: You get blue cards from Mr Gedde. This video shows you how to fill one out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSMnQyzOrmM
** - I will accept a scout prepared Patrol/Troop first aid kits but I can not speak for any other Merit Badge Counselor
*** - If old book 7b or new book 4d have not been signed off by a Troop Instructor then bring a scout prepared personal first aid kit.

Thank you,
Jason Schlager
