National Youth Leader TrainingNYLT
The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what they must KNOW, and what they must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

NYLT is a six-day course offered in 2 weekends. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids, which allows participants to understand and employ the leadership skills much faster.

Additional Dates online by March 1st:
July 15-17 & 22-24 - Camp Nauvoo - Placerville
August 4-7 & 12-14 - Camp Lassen - Butte Meadow

Last Saturday, The Golden Empire Council held their annual University of Scouting Event at Buljan Middle School in Roseville, CA. With over 450 people in attendance, Scouts and Scouters had an amazing time. Over, 90 staff taught 87 classes. A few of the highlights... a new "Project Management" Class for Venturers, a newly designed "Journey To Excellence Series" & "Keeping Leaders Charged UP"! Scouters must love to eat because our most popular class was "Outdoor Cooking"! OKPIK - Cold Weather Awareness - Outdoor - South Lake Tahoe UOS
In January, 26 Scouters and a few scouts braved the cold weather in South Lake Tahoe to learn the necessary, and life-saving skills of camping in cold weather - SNOW! They were so excited because El Nino left them with plenty to play in and create snow shelters, go for snow shoe hike and even have a campfire!
Learning and FUN were had by all!
