personal fitness MB

We will start the personal fitness merit badge this Sunday.  If you are signed up, please review the details below to ensure that you have done everything needed before you arrive on Sunday.  I would like to talk to each scout at this Thursday's meeting about their personal workout plan, if possible.  That way we don't have to do it on Sunday night.  If you still want to sign up and meet all of the requirements, use the SignUpGenius link below.

DETAILS

ELIGIBILITY:
  • Must be at least a First Class Scout
  • Must commit to working out three times a week for 12 weeks.
  • Must meet with group every other week for physical fitness testing and paperwork
FORMAT AND PREPARATION:
  • We will meet every other Sunday night at 7:30pm from Aug 23 - Nov 15.  Around October, when daylight fades, we will likely need to meet a bit earlier.
  • We will meet at Granite Oaks Middle School, at the track.
  • Scouts will be running and doing other exercises, so they need to wear athletic clothing and comfortable, good-fitting athletic shoes.
  • Bring water.
  • Scouts who are not attending summer camp this year will need a medical exam and will need their physician to complete the BSA medical paperwork (Part A, B and C) before the merit badge can be started.
  • A dental appointment and note from dentist is required before the merit badge can be finalized
  • Scouts need a blue card signed by Mr. Gedde.  I will be checking these during our first meeting.
  • Print the Personal Fitness Merit Badge worksheet from meritbadge.org and read through it before the first meeting.  Bring this worksheet to every meeting.  We will chip away at the paperwork each meeting.
  • Prior to starting, scouts need to determine their game plan for three workouts a week.  Please do this sooner than later and let me know your plan ahead of time.  Workouts need to include warm up, cardio, strength and stretching.

Lets get fit!!!
