I got a question from a parent and thought some guidelines for summer camp packing would be helpful.
First, use the attached checklist as your guide, it is very good.
Second, scouts need to wear Class A uniforms for the drive to/from camp and at dinner each night. Class A includes khaki shorts/pants, T29 red T-shirt, uniform shirt, neckerchief, slide, belt, hat. They end up changing in and out of their Class A uniform every day (and it will be filthy by the time they get home).
Third, here is an example of the quantity of items that my boys pack: Three additional tshirts (all red T29 shirts if you have them, my boys only have two each, so we throw in a couple of other tshirts), one pair of long pants, (they already have a pair of short on for the drive), one long-sleeve shirt, a warm hoodie or fleece, a rain shell (or a cheap pancho will do), one pair pajamas, one pair swim trunks (which they should have under their shorts for the drive), and no more than one pair underwear/socks per day. My sons also like to wear a beanie hat at night when it is cold. A towel for the lake is helpful. Again follow the attached list, it is excellent. But remember that they don't need lots of clothes. They just don't change very often. I believe that they have a cleanliness patch available to boys who shower at least twice during the week (or something like that). Expect a dirty child and dirty gear/clothing to return to your home.
Also, use a sharpie to write you son's name on the tag of all items (pants, shirts, jackets, etc).
