Subject:                 District Realignments

 

At the Annual Business Meeting of the Golden Empire Council on December 9^th, a motion to realign 4 of our districts into 2 was approved.  This action came about after months of review and recent discussions with the district volunteer leadership.  The plan calls for Sierra Gateway and Iron Horse to combine efforts into one district and for Pony Express and Pioneer to merge operations as one.

Meetings have already begun on the development of the new districts.   A few items to be aware of are as follows:

·         The date of the actual "on the books" consolidation will be February 1, 2015.

·         The new district committees will decide on meeting dates, locations, times, etc. for District Committee Meetings, Commissioner Staff Meetings, Roundtables, Trainings and other meetings of the district.  Some combined meetings may begin in January, others in February or March. 

·         The names of the new districts should be established by the district volunteers before the end of February.  Please consider a name that represents your geographic area well.

·         Nominating Committees, using established guidelines, will be created to identify, recruit and support a new District Chair and key volunteers for the new districts. 

·         The Order of the Arrow Chapters in these service areas will consider these processes and seek guidance from the lodge leadership during this transition about their consolidations, if needed.  

·         Professional Staff assignments for the new districts will be determined and communicated after January 1.
