Annual GEC Calendar

At a recent Council Connections meeting which is quarterly meeting that all district leadership and council committee leadership attend to keep our Council on track for GOLD, our volunteers developed the 2018 Golden Empire Council Calendar. We hope you plan to attend many of these exciting activities and use it to plan your unit activities.

Save the Date - 2018 ScoutExpo

The Council Program Committee is pleased to announce that ScoutExpo 2018 has been calendared and a location has been secured - we are confirmed for Gibson Ranch (in Rio Linda) October 19, 20, & 21, 2018.  
Popcorn Sales

Popcorn season is here!  Sign ups are underway for popcorn sales.  Two trainings have already taken place.  Two more trainings are scheduled in the month of July.  It is not too late to sign your unit up to sell popcorn.  Every unit's starting commission is 34%. (Webpage).

 
Local Scout Earns All Merit Badges

Ty Bingham, an Eagle Scout from El Dorado Hills, has completed all 137 merit badges. He is one of only 333 Scouts to complete such a feat.  Ty decided to work toward earning all the merit badges when he had only 20 merit badges completed and a little over two years of eligibility left to earn the 117 aditional badges. Venturing - Overdrive

Hey Venture Scouts!! Now is the time to register to attend the 2017 Overdrive.  Event tickets are $60 per person.  Time is running out so make sure you don't miss out on all the action.  There will be lots of cool activities including COPE activities like zip lining and climbing as well as shooting sports, arts and crafts, ATVs , and so much more.   Register here.

Leadership Training
 

  • What is Wood Badge? It is an adult leadership training put into the conext of Scouting. It will strengthen the Scouting programs for the youth you serve. The leadership skills you learn will support youth that attend NYLT and you will have the experience of a lifetime with passionate Scouters around the council like yourself. 
  • When? Sept 21-23, and Oct 5-7, Sunday friendly (two weekends, 6 days in all)

Training

Are you a NEW leader? Need help getting organized for your meetings? Nearly every registered scouting position has some form of training to help you understand your role. Check out the latest training calendar (updated frequently).

Boy Scouts of America is pleased to bring the learning closer to home with the launch of ScoutingU with eLearning content. So far, 19 modules, each ranging from 4-12 minutes in length, were designed to be viewed on a computer or tablet any time of day–from anywhere.  If you are already position-trained, it will not affect your "Trained" status. Access the content by logging into My.Scouting.org.
