A Hundred Years of Scouting celebrated by Golden Empire Troops
Since 1916, two Boy Scout troops – Troop One in Sacramento, and Troop One in Roseville -- have offered a premier Scouting program for Scouts to develop their outdoor, teamwork, and leadership skills as they work towards becoming Eagle Scouts.
Both troops have a legacy of hiking, camping and community service and between them, have produced a total of almost 600 Eagle Scouts in their 100-year history.

Inside East Sacramento, you can read a great article online about the history of Sacramento Troop 1. As stated in the article "Troop 1 is reportedly the oldest continuous Boy Scout unit west of the Mississippi River." In its first few years, the troop consisted of members of the First United Methodist Church. Today, the unit is around 90 scouts strong, from all over the region, and has strong parent and adult leader support.
Troop 1 - Roseville - On that same day, thousands of community members will join past and present members of Roseville Troop 1, along with State Senator Jim Nielsen and Roseville City Council Member Bonnie Gore, to celebrate 100 years of BSA Troop 1 in Roseville. This Troop was chartered in Roseville California October 1st, 1916 by Reverend Thomas Mee from the Roseville Methodist Church.
The Roseville event will feature food, live music, and an extensive display of Troop 1 memorabilia from the past 100 years. Boy Scouts from Troop 1 will provide demonstrations and static displays of their scouting skills and activities. This event is also on June 11, 2016, at the Placer County Fairgrounds.
