Troop 29 Leadership Opportunities for the Next Election Term

Elections for the next term (6 months) are just about on us (May 7, 2015 and May 21, 2015).  Elected Leaders will hold their positions from June 1, 2015 to November 30, 2015.  Anyone who is interested in running for a Leadership Position MUST complete the Troop 29 Leadership Position Application attached.  Leadership applications are due this Thursday, April 30, 2015.  The form needs to be signed by a parent to be "official".  Not all positions are elected.  Only the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and the Patrol Leaders(PLs) are elected.  All other Leadership positions are approved by the Scoutmaster (Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders are nominated by the SPL and approved by the Scoutmaster).  Candidates for Senior Patrol Leader will be asked to give a 2-3 minute speech to their fellow Scouts outlining what they expect to accomplish in the next 6 months (the Candidate's Platform).  This is not a requirement, but it is highly encouraged so the Candidates can set themselves apart from each other.

 

The election of Patrol Leaders will be held on May 21, 2015.  Patrol Leaders will be confirmed on May 28, 2015 and will be asked to supply a nomination for Assistant Patrol Leader at that time (Assistant Patrol Leaders are nominated by the Patrol Leader and approved by the Scoutmaster).   All other Scoutmaster (SM) selected Leadership Positions will be announced on May 28, 2015.

 

Here is the order of events for the upcoming election:

 

April 30, 2015 – Leadership Applications Due

May 7, 2015 – Senior Patrol Leader speeches and Election

May 14, 2015 – Senior Patrol Leader Confirmed

May 21, 2015 – Patrol Leader Elections

May 28, 2015 – All Leader Positions Announced/Confirmed

May 30, 2015 – Troop Leadership Training for New Leaders

June 1, 2015 – New Leadership Term Begins

I will have Leadership Applications at the Troop Meeting on April 30, 2015.  In addition, I will take a little bit of time at the Troop meeting to discuss the details noted above and answer any questions the Scouts or Parents may have.
