This year Camp Wente is requiring all Troops attending summer camp to electronically register their Scouts’ for the merit badges they wish to take and pay for any costs on-line. Note: This has to be done as a Troop and not by individual Scouts so please don’t try to enter your own Scout’s schedule on the Camp Wente web site.
Attached are the 2014 Camp Wente Merit Badge schedule and a listing of all of the Merit Badges being offered with their difficulty rating, cost, and age restrictions. On-line registration for the Merit Badges starts this week and will be open until two weeks prior to our Summer Camp week (July 6 to July 12). Of course the earlier you register the better chance you have for the Merit Badge class being open.
For those wishing to take the Horsemanship Merit Badge, please send me your request and full planned schedule for the rest of the day’s merit badges as soon as possible. Please note that the Horsemanship Merit Badge is very popular at Camp Wente and has a class limit of 15. The Camp also gives preference to higher ranked scouts and as a result the class typically consists of Star, Life, and Eagle Scouts. So please keep this in mind when making your selection.
As you decide what Merit Badges you want to take and what you want your daily schedule to be, send me your proposed schedule and I will enter it in under our Troop and pay for any costs. I will collect the Merit Badge costs from each family as appropriate at a later date.
Since this is the first year we are doing this on-line registration, I am not sure how we will be informed by Camp Wente if the requested Merit Badge schedule for each Scout is accepted or if a particular class is full. All I can say is stay tuned.
